Sophie Reid is an Affiliate Instructor for the UW Communication Leadership program. 

A journalist and producer by background, Sophie’s work has aired on the BBC, NPR and Bloomberg. She was the BBC’s Senior Radio Producer for North America, covering midterm elections, the economy and breaking news from across the US. Her freelance work has included producing documentaries, podcasts and daily news programming for the BBC, KUOW, WHYY and NPR. Field work has included the Greek debt crisis from Athens for Bloomberg, the Euro crisis from Spain and the aftermath of the mass shootings at Sandy Hook and Tucson for the BBC.

Previously an international lawyer at a leading global firm, Sophie represented major financial institutions on cross-border transactions. She holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Pennsylvania and is admitted to practice law by the Senior Courts of England and Wales.

Sophie has been Lecturer at The Wharton School since 2012, teaching at both the Philadelphia and San Francisco campuses. Her MBA classes have included Management Communication, Advanced Persuasive Speaking and Crisis Communication. Sophie currently coaches executive MBA students to lead through persuasive communication, using a blend of theory and practice.
