Biying Wu

Hi! I’m Biying Wu (she/her), a proud alum of the UW Communication Leadership program, Cohort ’22. I’m currently based in the Seattle area, working as a User Experience Researcher at TikTok.

In my role, I focus on TikTok Shop’s expansion in the U.S. market. I conduct qualitative research, primarily through in-depth interviews with merchants and creators, to uncover insights that help our product and operations teams refine their strategies and enhance the user experience. It’s a fascinating intersection of e-commerce, content, and culture, and I love being part of a team that’s building and iterating on such a dynamic platform.

My journey into the world of UX research was shaped significantly by my time in the Comm Lead program, which equipped me with a strong foundation in user-centered design, research methodologies, and strategic communication. Before my current role, I gained experience in consumer insights and content strategy with leading companies like Tencent and Omnicom Group, working with brands such as Nestlé and PepsiCo.

As a recent graduate and an international student who has navigated the U.S. job market, I’m passionate about sharing my experiences and helping current students find their own paths.
