Cohort 14, MCCN, Principal Program Manager Lead – Localization, Kape Technologies

What drew you to the MCCN degree track?
I pursued the MCCN degree in 2015 because it offered a unique opportunity to deepen my understanding of communication in an increasingly globalized and interconnected world. The program’s focus on developing strategies for engaging different communities and leadership in organizations aligned perfectly with my professional goals.
As a program manager, my work today involves leading diverse international teams, where navigating cultural differences is crucial for success. The MCCN program equipped me with the skills to think critically about how communication shapes relationships within networks, empowering me to tailor strategies that resonate with diverse groups, whether they are customers, co-workers, or global audiences.
How does the focus and ethos of the MCCN intersect with your work today?
The MCCN degree continues to influence my work today, especially as I lead global localization initiatives at Kape Technologies. My role involves overseeing teams that work across different time zones, cultures, and markets to deliver tailored content. The MCCN’s emphasis on leadership, collaboration, and navigating cultural differences has been instrumental in helping me manage these complexities effectively.
The communication strategies I learned have been invaluable in aligning teams with diverse backgrounds and ensuring that we engage audiences in ways that resonate with them. From optimizing workflows to leading strategic initiatives, the skills I gained from the MCCN program continue to inform my approach to leadership and drive success in my global communication efforts.
If you could design a course for the MCCN degree track, what would it be?
My course would be titled Global Communication Strategies for Multicultural Networks. This course would dive deep into the nuances of managing communication within diverse communities and global networks. Given my experience in localization and multicultural communication, I would integrate practical insights on crafting messages that resonate across cultures, while also addressing the challenges of balancing global brand consistency with local relevance. Combining theory with practical insights, the course would feature case studies of successful global campaigns and hands-on experience with tools used for managing communication strategies across regions. Students would gain the skills needed to navigate cultural nuances and design effective communication strategies that align with global business objectives.
What is one of the best pieces of career advice you’ve ever gotten?
One of the most impactful pieces of career advice I received came from a professor who encouraged me to dream big and not be afraid of the unknown. This advice has been especially significant in my career, as I’ve navigated the intersection of data-driven communication, multicultural engagement, and leadership. Taking calculated risks and embracing new challenges has been key to my growth, particularly in the fast-evolving tech and communications fields. The MCCN degree reinforced this mindset by showing me how to leverage data-driven insights to connect with diverse communities and create strategies that drive meaningful change. This approach continues to guide my work today, empowering me to lead with innovation, embrace cultural diversity, and constantly evolve my strategies to meet the needs of global audiences.
