Cathy is a Founding Partner of Cantadora Communications, a strategic and creative communications firm based in Seattle and Washington, D.C., whose mission is to help clients tell stories that move the world. Cathy empowers individuals, companies, and nonprofits to find their story magic, and tell it and sell it in strategic and creative ways that leverage her journalism, political, public relations and marketing expertise. Cathy teaches the art and science of great narratives in business in her graduate-level class The Strategic Art of Organizational Storytelling: Connecting Through Creative Engagement, as well as UW Comm Lead Graduate Independent Study students. Cathy recently served as the Speaker Coach for the international Human Rights Foundation and Oslo Freedom Forum 2014 in Oslo, Norway. She has coached numerous TED speakers, including TEDxSeattle 2013 luminaries. She also has trained executives in “the art of the pitch” for global corporate and human rights hackathons and Start-up Weekends. Across her career, Cathy has served as a press secretary for Members of Congress on Capitol Hill and was a vice president at Ogilvy Public Relations. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in American Studies/Literature from Yale University, holds a Master of Science in Journalism/Broadcasting from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, and a Nonfiction Writing Certificate from the University of Washington. A photographer and writer, her passion is to help her clients and students embrace their potential, find their voice, and share their best stories to advance their mission in the world.
