Lisa Coutu, Principal Lecturer, is an Associate Director of the Communication Leadership Program. She focuses primarily on curriculum and faculty development. She received the University of Washington’s Distinguished Teaching Award in 2003, and the UW Educational Outreach Award for Teaching Excellence in Distance Learning in 2008. An ethnographer of communication by training, she teaches and researches the dynamics of culture and communication. Specifically, she is concerned with the connection between communication, culture, and identity, and how groups interact across difference.
